Focused Review

Focused Review

This service provides an objective evaluation of aspects of your school’s work and development points for you to consider. Each review is tailored specifically to your school and requirements. Reviews might include off-site analysis of your school’s performance data, website and self-evaluation (SEF). Time in school can range from half a day to two days, depending on the focus and your specifications. A report of the review evaluations and development points can be provided. Please note, these are not ‘Mocksteds’!

Subject/ Phase/ Key Area Review

Subject/ Phase/ Key Area Review

This service usually includes working with subject /phase leaders or leaders who are responsible for specific aspects of the school’s work, such as behaviour, the curriculum, early years, SEND and assessment. Various joint monitoring activities may be undertaken, as well as an evaluation of leaders’ action plans and impact. A report of the scope and findings of the review can be provided. This is usually a one-day service.

Review of Pupil Premium Strategy and Impact

Review of Pupil Premium Strategy and Impact

This service provides an in-depth review of your pupil premium strategy, spending and impact. It includes an analysis of performance data, but goes well beyond this. The outcomes of this review will enable you to securely evidence your work to improve the achievement and life chances of disadvantaged pupils, a group which is a key inspection focus.

Governance Health Check

Governance Health Check

This service usually includes meeting governors to discuss their role, responsibilities and understanding of the school’s work and effectiveness. Checks of documentary evidence of governors’ work and governors' impact are also undertaken. Consultancy time for this service is usually one day.

A half-day visit to discuss the review findings and implications and to plan the way forward can be added if you require.

Training Courses
Training Courses

Training Courses

As with other M. D. Education services, training is bespoke and tailored to clients’ needs and specifications. Training can range from 2-3 hours INSET after school, to half and full-day workshops for individual schools and clusters. Popular courses run regularly each term.

‘Inspecting your own school?’

At M.D. Education we do not replicate the countless headteacher inspection skills training courses you will see advertised as ‘preparation for inspection’. The evidence inspectors draw on and the strategies they use during inspection are in the public domain and, therefore, no secret. Headteacher Inspection Skills training courses that require participants to review unfamiliar data and information do not turn school leaders into inspectors overnight. Importantly, these courses are rarely useful in helping leaders improve their own schools. The unique selling point of this course is that YOUR school’s data, YOUR school’s website and YOUR school’s circumstances are the drivers. Participants consider the most useful and efficient evidence gathering strategies for their own, school-specific, issues. This course hones leaders’ self-evaluation and development planning skills, which lie at the heart of good and outstanding leadership and management.

This is a 2-day course priced at £475 per delegate (discounts for 4 or more delegates from same school). Numbers are limited to allow the trainer to provide bespoke support.
